This upcoming Saturday ushers in the 44th Annual Steeplechase Race held at Fence. This is "THE" spring event in Polk County. As in past years, we will have many visitors who will be coming to our community for the Steeplechase. This event also will mark the 3rd week of our "Keep Polk County Clean" contest What better time to really go all out for this worthwhile contest. It is still not too late to get started. The contest ends on April 30, when the winners will be chosen For those who might have missed our first article stating the contest rules, these can be obtained by calling the Agricultural Extension Center, who will also provide the trash bags needed for cleaning up our roadsides. Anyone already picking up litter or planning to join in the anti-litter contest should call the Agricultural Extension Service to register your group To date, very few organizations have signed up and that is a must, if you plan to enter. Don't let the litter bugs ruin our beautiful county. Get out here — BAG TRASH TO WIN CASH! do a service for your community by helping preserve its natural loveliness — Reporter Earth Day Tryon Mayor Robert M Neely has issued a proclamation proclaiming April 22nd as Earth Day 1990.
